Building excitement for Curious George exhibit

Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny Dupree was at Sacred Heart Elementary School Friday morning helping to build excitement for an exhibit about Curious George coming to the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson.

Dupree read an episode called Curious George saves the day to first graders at the school. That is the title of the upcoming exhibit at the museum. The exhibit will contain around 80 original drawings. All the pieces in the exhibit will come from the de grummond collection at USM.

Museum Director Betsy Bradley says the exhibit will be great for families and will have a lot of appeal to children.

"There are opportunities for them to play, read books, and learn," said Bradley. "It's also a very compelling story about the creators of curious George who escape the holocaust on bicycles out of Paris in the late 1930's. We're hoping that lots of families will come and experience it together.

The exhibit runs from March 3, through July 22.
