FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Two stray donkeys kept Forrest County deputies and rescuers from Eatonville busy for more than three hours Tuesday.
The donkeys were found wandering on Monroe Road in Eastabuchie near I-59. A trailer and temporary fencing were brought in. One of the donkeys was caught, but later was able to break free. The deputies and rescuers tried to keep the two in a field and away from the road.
Around 3 p.m., the donkeys were able to outmaneuver the rescuers and make it to the road. The donkeys then traveled down the road before disappearing into the woods.
Finally, Trails End Horse Haven out of Petal along with the deputies were able to round them up this evening...the owners however, still have not been found.
