The 2nd annual LEC Connects Conference was attended by educators from across Mississippi.
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
Dozens of Southern Miss faculty members and other educators spent their Mardi Gras holiday in Hattiesburg learning new teaching strategies rather than enjoying the sights and sounds of the French Quarter.
They participated in the 2nd annual LEC Connects Conference at the Thad Cochran Center.
The event focused on several teaching enhancement topics, including online learning and using video to advance course goals.
It was hosted by USM's Learning Enhancement Center.
"What we discovered last year is that it's really hard for faculty to be out of the classroom and in order to make it more accessible for faculty and give them an opportunity to spend the entire day here, we decided to do it on Mardi Gras and so we do have a Mardi Gras theme going on today, everybody has plenty of beads," said Sheri Rawls, director of the Southern Miss Learning Enhancement Center.
