HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - 4th District Congressman Steven Palazzo addressed a meeting of the Forrest/Lamar Republican Women on Tuesday.

He was critical of President Obama's recent defense cuts and said he should do more to help lower gas prices.

He said the GOP has the cure for the nation's economic woes.

"It's that uncertainty, it's the insecurity and the instability that this administration is causing on this country," Palazzo said. "And we have real, long-term solutions to the real problems facing this country," he said.

Palazzo said Republicans in the House have sponsored more than two dozen jobs, energy and tax bills that the Senate has refused to act on.

He faces two challengers in the upcoming Republican Primary on March 13.
