Blood drive helps for spouse of Forrest County employee
Police recruit gives blood
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
The Forrest County Emergency Management District held a blood drive at the EOC on Friday.
The drive was put on to benefit Bobby Windham who has been battling leukemia. Bobby is the husband of Debbie Windham who is the Emergency Management District's 911 Coordinator.
Several Hattiesburg Police Officers took the time to donate blood, among them were 11 recruits currently going through training at Hattiesburg Police Academy.
"We always say that our primary goal is to serve the community and that's not just getting out there and fighting crime," said Jack Vardano, Hattiesburg Police Officer recruit. It's giving back any way we can and this is the perfect way to do it."
The blood drive was a big success as a steady stream of donors from several agencies gave blood throughout the day.
