HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A group of top Southern Miss administrators are hoping some of their dance moves will motivate faculty and staff to increase their donations to the university.
Tuesday afternoon's "Dancing with the Deans" at USM's Hattiesburg campus brought together about one dozen academic deans or representatives of their offices for a ballroom dance competition at the Thad Cochran Center.
The event kicked off a new fundraising campaign for faculty and staff called the Campaign for Southern Miss.
The goal is to increase internal support for the university to 30 percent.
"It's to encourage our faculty and staff to give back and participate in giving to USM, for scholarships, for programmatic things, for all sorts, they can designate to many different areas," said Jessica Cloud, campaign coordinator.
Cloud hopes to reach the campaign's goal by May 1.
