PRENTISS, MS (WDAM) - An investigation into a major car theft ring operating in Jeff Davis County that began two days ago has now led to the seizure of a dozen vehicles and has expanded to include at least two other Mississippi counties.
Investigators say 12 cars and trucks have been seized in Jeff Davis County since Thursday. They were allegedly stolen from the Jackson and Vicksburg areas and were sold to unsuspecting residents over the last few months.
Investigators say they're planning to pick-up at least four more stolen vehicles in Lawrence and Warren counties.
One suspect is in custody in connection with the case, but his name has not officially been released by authorities.
Investigators say more arrests are likely.
