Q: I have heard that you should give your dog (pets) the best
food you can afford...BUT, what IS the best food for my dog? There are
so many choices out there and I can't decide on an adult dog food...she
will be a year old next month. She is an American Cocker Spaniel, small
in stature with no known issues. Thanks in advance for your help!
A: The great thing about your dog is there are no "known" issues, so at this point you're not worried about allergies. Back when I was a military family man living pay check to pay check, I was faced with the same question. I wanted a dog, I got a dog and now I have to feed my dog. There are many types to chose from, from holistic to raw to just the regular stuff. A good rule of thumb is, if on the ingredients section it starts with a meat and not a grain, it's good food. We all want the best, but in my opinion I'm going to do the best I can without putting my family at risk purchasing food that is not wallet-friendly.
