Petal softball stand outs Scronce, Page sign with Pearl River

PETAL, MS (WDAM) -

Petal High School infielder Chelsea Page and Megan Scronce, the latter who plays both the infield and the outfield, officially made their marks to play for Pearl River Community College next season.

With their family and coaching staff on hand, Page and Scronce were the first signees of the week from Petal. Page plays the outfield and registered a stellar .934 fielding percentage a season ago to go along with her .311 batting average.

To boot, she bats .394 with the bases occupied. Her teammate Scronce batted .307 a season ago while posting a .875 fielding percentage.

    Mississippi Highway Patrol said a Hattiesburg man was killed after driving the wrong way on I-59 Friday night. Master Sergeant Brent Barfield, Public Information Officer for MHP Troop 6, said James Dawkins, 58, was driving northbound in the southbound land of I-59 when he collided head-on with another vehicle.  The accident happened around 11:00 p.m. near mile marker 52 in Lamar County.  Dawkins died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
