Benefit concert helps some families of teens killed in crash

A benefit concert was held Friday in Richton to help some families of four teenagers killed in a truck accident. A benefit concert was held Friday in Richton to help some families of four teenagers killed in a truck accident.

Efforts are continuing in the Richton area to help some of the families of four teenagers who died in a one-car accident the week of Jan. 18. Donations were being accepted Friday night at a free music concert at the Old Theater Coffee House.

Several local acts performed to raise money for funeral and other expenses.

Those four teens, who attended Greene County High School, were killed when their truck wrecked on a county road.

"I've had hundreds of e-mails that I've spent all week answering where to direct funds to," said Leslie Felts, owner of the Old Theater Coffee House. "I try to direct them straight to the funeral home, but we've had people that wanted to come to the event, but couldn't make it, so they said, 'here, put this in the donation jar.' It's just been really awesome," Felts said.

CDs of original music were also sold to raise money at the concert.
