Some friends of the families of four teenagers killed in a one-vehicle accident in Greene County last week are making and selling bracelets to raise money to help with funeral costs and other expenses.
They're called Dillon Bands, in honor of 16-year-old Dillon Reid, one of the boys who died in the wreck on a county road on Jan. 18.
They're made from soda pop tops. Packages containing the bracelets will also include a Bible verse.
"I know a lot of the bracelets are made with wire, (but) we use a poly-filament elastic cord," said Nicole Mathis, a friend of the Reid family who came up with the idea for the bracelets. "We wanted something that would make it significant to Dillon Reid. If this bracelet got to Canada, California, you would know, hey, that's a Dillon Reid bracelet," Mathis said.
A Facebook page is being set up to handle orders.
