Forrest County man robbed, flees as gunmen fire shots

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Forrest County authorities are looking for two, or possibly three, suspects who robbed Jerry Watts, 64, at gunpoint after he came home and surprised them trying to burglarized his house. 

The resident of the Maxie community said after he was forced to his knees and robbed of his wallet on Monday, he fled into some nearby woods. Authorities said the suspects fired shots at Watts as he fled, but he was not hit. 

Watts, who battling cancer, was returning home from the doctor when he came upon the group of men burglarizing his home.  He says once he had the chance to escape, he called 9-1-1, and hid for about 30 minutes until authorities arrived.
