Police arrest wife of Camp Shelby MP who survived shooting

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Forrest County Sheriff's department made an arrest Monday night in connection to a shooting of a Camp Shelby military police officer on Friday.

Tiffany Wright, the wife of the MP, was arrested in Lamar County at an apartment complex Monday evening and charged with domestic assault.

According to investigators, Tiffany Wright called her husband and asked him to meet her at the north gate security checkpoint. He was later shot at that checkpoint while wearing a ballistic vest.

Shelby officials said the vest stopped the bullet and saved his life. He was taken to Forrest General Hospital for a precautionary evaluation and was released.

Police originally said they were searching for a white male suspect.
