Hattiesburg woman charged with DUI causing death

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg woman is behind bars charged with DUI causing death or mutilation.

Thirty-seven-year-old Judy Haynes turned herself in Saturday night to Hattiesburg police after she allegedly ran over a man lying in the street Friday evening at around 9:30 p.m.

The victim is identified as 49-year-old Stanley Easterling of Hattiesburg. After being hit by the car Easterling was transported to Forrest General Hospital where he died at about 10 p.m.

Hattiesburg police say that Easterling apparently had fallen of a bicycle he had been riding just before he was hit by the car.

Haynes appeared before Hattiesburg Municipal Judge Vanessa Jones Monday. Bond was set at $250,000.
