Some parents in Jeff Davis County are outraged about allegations of disciplinary abuse at Prentiss Junior High School.
According to a couple parents a Jeff Davis County school employee, Spurgeon Banyard, has allegedly been abusing and bullying kids both verbally and physically.
One parent says her child is on the no spank list, but claims Banyard disciplined him with corporal punishment anyway. These are not Banyard's first allegations of abuse.
He was allegedly fired after one year as principal at Moss Point High School for bullying, extortion, insubordination, and abuse of authority. Before that, he was allegedly fired from a job in Birmingham where he worked for one year.
Jeff Davis County Superintendent Ike Haynes was unavailable for comments Friday, but earlier this week he would not comment on Banyard's title or whether or not a background check was done.
