HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The movie "Red Tails" opens in theatres this weekend and a local man has a special display to go along with the film at the Grand Theatre in Hattiesburg.
The movie is an account of the Tuskegee Airmen, an all-black World War ll fighter pilot squad. Clint Martin, the nephew of Tuskegee airman, Walter Downs, brought his paintings to the theatre for the public to see.
Paintings which are based on the missions the airmen flew during World War ll, and based off the stories his uncle told him. Martin says he hopes when people see the movie they remember the men that fought for this country.
"The story itself is something I think the whole world should take a look at it based on who these guys were and still are," said Martin.
According to Martin, 13 of the Tuskegee airmen are from Mississippi.
