Pine Belt 360 launches on MLK Day

While the nation celebrated this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, some were looking at King's legacy with the future in mind.

This year, the third Monday in January marked not only the federal holiday named for the famed civil rights leader, but also the launch day for Pine Belt 360.

The organization's goal is to unite area churches - black, white, brand new, or ones that have been here for years. Cross-cultural and cross-denominational, Pine Belt 360 wants to bring them all together.

The start date today was marked by a luncheon at The Bakery Building in Hattiesburg's downtown. Pastors from Lamar, Forrest and Marion county churches were invited to brainstorm ideas on how to begin bringing congregations together.
