Group petitions for Forrest County leash laws

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Kimberly Wilson and her family are spearheading an effort for leash laws in Forrest County after their dog was allegedly attacked Wednesday by their neighbor's pit bull dogs and then beaten with a 2 x 4 wooden plank.

The family pet, Bear, died at a local veterinarian's office.

The case is still under investigation by the Forrest County Sheriff's Office.

Wilson has rallied together a group of area animal lovers who are concerned with making Forrest County safer for residents and their animals by petitioning for leash laws in the county.

The group will be appearing before the Forrest County Board of Supervisors Thursday.

Group member Amy McCombs says, "leash laws would protect smaller animals, and prevent incidents like this from happening again."
