Former Southern Miss linebacker Ronnie Thornton has been invited to play in the 87th annual East-West Shrine Game Saturday, January 21. Thornton will play for the West squad.
Thornton finished the 2011 season with 111 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, a sack, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. He returned one of those interceptions for a touchdown in the Conference USA championship game in Houston.
Thornton becomes the third Golden Eagle to be invited to play in the game. Former Golden Eagle teammates Austin Davis and Lamar Holmes will play for the East squad.
The game will be played on January 21 at 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on the NFL Network.
