UPDATE: Ingleside shooting suspect arrested

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Police arrested a man in connection to a Friday morning shooting in West Shreveport.

Shreveport Police Department Spokesperson Sgt. Bill Goodin says investigators arrested 27-year-old Brandon Ruffin without incident Wednesday afternoon and took him to the Shreveport City Jail. Ruffin was charged with attempted second degree murder and being a convicted felon with a gun.

Goodin says shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Friday, police responded to reports of shots fired in the 5200 block of Virginia Avenue. When police arrived, they found 34-year-old Cedric Atkins  with a bullet wound to his left leg. Atkins was taken to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what was described as a non-life-threatening injury.

Detectives say they learned that Atkins and Ruffin were involved in some type of altercation there on Prentiss Avenue when the Ruffin allegedly produced a handgun and began shooting at the victim.
