Trusty walks away from Jones Co. Jail

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Jones County Sheriff's Dept. authorities are searching for an inmate who walked away from the Jones County Jail on Highway 11 in Ellisville Saturday. Archie Cross, Jr., 49, with a last known address of 924 S 14th Ave of Laurel, walked away from the Jones County Adult Detention Facility.

He was an outside trusty who was given the task of washing cars.

Authorities believe that Cross changed into plain clothes after his jumpsuit was discovered in a storage building located at the jail.

Cross was jailed in October on charges of uttering, trespass, and felony motor vehicle taking.

Anyone having information concerning the whereabouts of Cross is asked to call the Jones County Sheriff's Dept. at (601) 425-3147 or Jones County Crimestoppers at (601) 428-7867 for a possible cash reward.
