Heidelberg students protest over exiting principal

JASPER COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Dozens of Heidelberg students held a campus protest Thursday, over allegations that the high school principal was forced to resign.

According to the Mayor of Heidelberg, Juan Barnett, students are furious about the resignation of the principal Perry Reed. Barnett says when he arrived on campus Thursday morning, students were protesting. He says he told the students to return to class and to do whatever was asked of them by the administration. Barnett says the students were complaining about having 5 principals in a four year period.

News Seven's calls to the superintendent were not returned. Mayor Barnett is calling a citywide meeting to address this issue Monday, 6 p.m. at the multi purpose building.
