COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) - Marion County circuit clerk Jesse Loftin is retiring after nearly 42 years of service to the state of Mississippi. Prior to his time as the court, Loftin worked as an investigator for both the state Fire Marshall's Office and the state Attorney General, where he looked into white collar crimes.
His first job with the state of Mississippi was with the Alcohol, Beverage Control Division.
"It's been great. The people have been great, and I'm going to miss them. But after 42 years, I think it's time to go," Loftin said.
As for the future, Loftin said he and his wife hope to travel, and he owns a little bit of land and likes to garden.
