Alabama dominates Mississippi 31-12 to claim 2011 all-star classic

MONTGOMERY, AL (WDAM) - Alabama all-star running back, and Auburn University commit, T.J. Yeldon rushed for three touchdowns, the Alabama defense smothered the Mississippi all-star offense, and Alabama claimed bragging rights with a 31-12 win over Mississippi in Saturday's Alabama- Mississippi All-Star Football Classic.

Petal quarterback Anthony Alford, who started for the Mississippi all-stars, completed only one of eight passes in the first half, and the Mississippi offense only gained 60 yards of total offense for the entire game. Not all of Mississippi's struggles can be placed on the shoulders of Alford, who received almost no help from his offensive line, as the Alabama defense sacked him what seemed like every other play.

The Alabama offense produced 28 points, while Mississippi could only muster 12 points, all of which came on special teams. Brookhaven senior Greg Sims scooped up a one-hop punt and returned it all the way to the endzone for Mississippi's only touchdown.
