Ebony Jenkins' death ruled a homicide

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The death of a 27-year-old Hattiesburg woman whose body was found close to Highway 49 Friday morning has been ruled a homicide.

A preliminary autopsy report shows Ebony Jenkins died of multiple gunshot wounds. Forrest County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Nobles says a more detailed report will be available this week.

Jenkins' body was found Friday morning in a wooded area near 26th Ave. and 7th St.

She was a former guard on the Southern Miss Lady Eagles basketball team in 2004.
