Hattiesburg church discuses alleged sexual misconduct in letter

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - According to Eddie Rester, lead pastor at Parkway Heights Church, on Monday night letters were placed inside the "cubbies" of children who attend the church's daycare explaining the organization's connection to recent sexual battery allegations. You can about those allegations at this link.

A copy of the letter can be seen on our website, www.wdam.com.

The text of the letter reads:

Dear Parents,

With a heavy heart I write to inform you that a former nursery worker employed by Parkway Heights is under investigation for illegal sexual misconduct while caring for a child in the church nursery. Please rest assured that our Early Encounters Day Center has no involvement in this matter. The Center operates as a separate entity apart from the church, and there have been no allegations against any of the EE staff.

Parkway Heights became aware of the allegations November 27 and immediately reported it to appropriate authorities. We are fully cooperating with investigators a the legal process takes its course. Additionally, we have begun an internal review of policies and procedure governing our church nursery care.

Please join us in prayer about this matter-asking God for guidance and healing-for our church family, for Parkway Heights' staff and leadership, and for those at the center of the investigation.

In Christ,

Eddie Rester [signed]
