LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Thousands in the Pine Belt lined the streets in Laurel Saturday to take in the Sertoma Christmas Parade. This year's theme was "Do you hear what I hear?"
The parade is the state's largest and has been a tradition in Laurel for years. It was originally put on by the Jaycee's and taken over by the Sertoma's in the early 1980's. The route took the parade through the business district in downtown starting at the Sawmill Square Mall. More than 100 entries participated including the JCJC Marching Band and several local high school bands, The parade also featured floats, pageant winners, the Shriners, fire apparatus and city and county officials.
Proceeds from the parade go to support scholarships for area students.
