Are you searching for the perfect Christmas tree?

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

It may be one of the most important things to check off your Christmas list...finding a tree. Co- owner of Thomley's Santa Forest , Howard Thomley has been helping families make that special decision for quite a while.

"We are working with the third generation. Having been out here 44 years. They grow up and bring their own children out," said Thomley.

This year, customers who are looking for that one special tree have eight to 10,000 trees to choose from, and Thomley has some tips on what to look for.

"Just a full green tree and the bigger the better. In fact we insist on them taking a measuring stick with them so when they get home they won't have more tree than they got house," said Thomley.

Thomley says with several different kinds of trees on this land perfection is in the eye of the beholder.

"Everybody has their own idea of a perfect Christmas tree . So I really don't know what a perfect one is. A perfect one is it suits the customer 100 percent," said Thomley.

Janet Thomas, of Hattiesburg, thinks this Leyland Cypress is the perfect tree.

"They hold up very very well. Someone recommended it us. I don't have to worry about the leaves of the branches turning brown. I don't have to worry about the needles going all over the floor. That is why we come here," said Thomas.

Thomas says finding the tree is part of her Christmas tradition.

"We really like the experience of picking out a fresh Christmas tree I like the way it smells. I like the experience. I like to pick it out. It is just more Christmas when it is a real Christmas tree."

"It is just a joyous occasion for them with a live tree," said Thomley.
