LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - People in the Pine Belt are being urged to get ready for a the coldest night we've had so far this season.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-twenties early Thursday morning. Jones County Emergency Manager Don McKinnon says those temperatures could be dangerous for people, pets, plants, and water pipes.

Meanwhile the Salvation Army will offer a hot meal and open its shelter from 6:00pm until 7:00am during the cold nights.
