HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Staff and volunteers with the Salvation Army in Hattiesburg worked hard to make this a happy Thanksgiving by hosting an annual holiday meal Thursday afternoon.
It was the 2nd year for a Thanksgiving dinner at the Salvation Army's shelter in the Hub City. Nearly 4 dozen people were standing in line when volunteers began serving around 4 p.m. Turkey, dressing and other traditional items were on the menu.
"We just feel everyone needs a place to be, to share a meal with one another and just for this small time, we become family as we sit around the table and talk and forget about any problems outside the door," said Capt. Frances Gilliam, of the Hattiesburg Salvation Army.
Live music was also provided during the meal.
