HATTIESBURG,MS (WDAM) - Some local residents in need will have a plentiful Thanksgiving dinner thanks to the Salvation Army.
Sorority volunteers from Southern Miss came out to the Salvation Army to pack boxes full of canned goods and boxed treats.
Each box will have a fresh Thanksgiving hen for families picking up the goods Tuesday. The food was donated by local communities . Director of Development for the Salvation Army, Katie Tate says packing the Thanksgiving food boxes every year is a blessing for the organization.
"Those folks that we serve are the less fortunate, those that are living in the woods, or those that have possible lost their jobs. They are the ones that were giving last year and now they are receiving, and so it takes a whole other look even for the Salvation Army and the people that we serve. So, it is a true blessing for us and the volunteers that come out and serve the community," said Tate.
