Camp Shelby dedicates new "Minuteman" barracks

CAMP SHELBY, MS (WDAM) - Mississippi National Guard officials gathered at Camp Shelby Friday morning to officially open a new $8.3 million barracks facility.

The Minuteman Building has 3 floors and 89 private rooms. It includes a laundry room, a common gathering area and electric vehicle charging stations in the parking lot.

The construction of the new facility was authorized after a March 2008 tornado destroyed 4 barracks, one general officers quarters and a battalion supply building.
