USM provost steps down

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- USM's provost has stepped down citing personal reasons for his departure as the university's chief academic officer.

Bob Lyman has served as the university provost since 2008. He will remain on the faculty as a professor of psychology. In the interim, Denis Wiesenburg will serve as provost for the remainder of the academic year. Wiesenburg will also continue in his role as vice president of research for Southern Miss.
