Black Farmers may still make claims against the USDA

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Black farmers in Mississippi still have an opportunity to file claims against the USDA.

In October, a federal judge in Washington DC approved a $1.25 billion settlement to black farmers that were discriminated against by the USDA during the 1980's and 1990's.

On Tuesday, attorneys accepted applications at the USM Thad Cochran Center and explained the process to black farmers and families which may still qualify for compensation.
