One man injured in Hattiesburg night club parking lot

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A parking lot incident at Remington's Hunt Club over the weekend left one person seriously injured.

The incident occurred almost one year to the day that three Southern Miss Football players were shot in the same parking lot.

Police arrested 20-year-old John Hayes of Hattiesburg on charges of DUI mayhem. According to witnesses, Hayes allegedly hit a car in the parking lot, and the driver of the parked car got out to look at the damage. Hayes allegedly put the car in reverse and backed into the other car, pinning the victim between the two vehicles.

Deangelo Wilkerson, 20, of Hattiesburg is listed in serious condition at a Hattiesburg hospital.   According to police, shots were fired in the parking lot while officers were investigating the incident. No one was hit, but police said less than an hour later, shots were fired in the 500 block of east Ninth Street near where Hayes' mother lives.

No arrests have been made in either of the shooting incidents.
