HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Patrons of one Hattiesburg restaurant received a tasty reward for being generous on Saturday. Folks who visited the Chik-Fil-A on Highway 98 and donated a shoebox for "Operation Christmas Child" got a coupon for a free Chik-Fil-A sandwich.
Representatives from the charity were on hand at the restaurant to accept the donations.
"Operation Christmas Child" delivers shoeboxes filled with gifts to less fortunate children around the world during the holiday season.
"It started at 28,000 shoe boxes back when the project got started over 10 years ago and they actually give out millions and the goal this year is 8.5 million all around the world," said Emily Tynes, a media relations specialist with "Operation Christmas Child" in Hattiesburg.
