HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- An early morning fire destroyed a Hattiesburg residence.
The fire occurred at around 12:30 a.m. at a home on the corner of Short Columbia and North Street. The fire apparently started in the living room and quickly spread to the attic and roof. There was one person inside the home at the time of the fire. She was able to escape the residence unharmed.
Firefighters from five Hattiesburg Departments were on the scene until after 2:00 a.m. Authorities say the home is a total loss. No one was injured fighting the blaze.
Fire investigators say the fire started accidentally.
