HATTIESBURG,MS (WDAM) - Republican gubernatorial candidate Phil Bryant stopped by the Thames Elementary precinct Tuesday morning, after casting his vote in his home county of Rankin earlier in the day
Bryant made his way through area precincts, as well as thanking volunteers for their hard work along the campaign trail and encouraged them to continue work until the polls close. Bryant believes people understand the importance of this election and is encouraged by the high voter turnout across the state. No matter the outcome, Bryant says he is proud of the cleanliness that both campaigns have shown.
"It's been a very clean campaign. I think we are very proud, both of us. And I know Johnny DuPree should be because there's not a negative attack. There hasn't been these hit pieces that you see. And I think we really changed the dynamic of the political concept for people running for governor and I'm really proud of that," said Bryant.
Bryant will head back to his Rankin county to await final tally.
