CAMP SHELBY, MS (WDAM) - The University of Southern Mississippi and Toyota of Hattiesburg have once again teamed to show their appreciation to soldiers and veterans.

In honor of Veterans Day, Saturday is Military Appreciation Day at the Rock.. A few of the Eagle Cheerleaders, Dixie Darlings, and representatives from Toyota of Hattiesburg were at Camp Shelby Tuesday passing out free tickets to soldiers for the upcoming game against the University of Central Florida.

Part of Tuesday activities at Camp Shelby was a demonstration of a military tank by the soldiers and the visitors were able to tour the inside of a few tanks.

This is the second year Toyota and USM have teamed to show their appreciation to soldiers and veterans.

"I want to show our appreciation for our troops," said Alton Pierce, General Manager, Toyota of Hattiesburg. "I couldn't imagine being away from my kids even for a day or two. They are away for a lot longer. I really just want to show my gratitude and thank them for their service."

A tail gate party at Pride Field on the USM campus is also part of Military Appreciation Day.
