Friday of this week is Veterans Day. It is a time to honor all those who have served our nation wearing the uniform of our Military. Whether in time or war…or while keeping the peace…no nation can survive without armed forces sufficient to protect its citizens and preserve its way of life. Of course those who serve in times of war do often sacrifice to an extreme measure for our country. From hero's like Hattiesburg's George Robert Hall who spent 7 ½ years in North Vietnamese prisons after being shot down in 1965 and who will be the Grand Marshall in Hattiesburg's Veterans Day Parade…to those who fought in the World Wars and Korea…to those who fought more recently and continue to fight in the Middle East…and wars and conflicts throughout our nation's history…all deserve our deep thanks. This Tuesday is also election day. Our democratic right to vote is one of the reasons our veterans have served…have sacrificed…have fought and have died. There are important races and initiatives on the ballot that will effect Mississippi greatly. For the most part it has been a refreshingly clean election cycle with probably less vitriol and mudslinging than we've seen in years. Let's vote on the issues. I'm Jim Cameron and that's today's Viewpoint…let us hear from you.
