WDAM employee now best-selling author

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg best-selling author and employee of WDAM-TV met face-to-face with fans of his new book Thursday night. David McRaney, author of You Are Not So Smart, signed copies of the book at Books-a-Million.

It's a series of essays that McRaney calls a "celebration of self-delusion."

The book has been out for a few weeks and just today, it broke into the Amazon Top-100 list.

"It's sort of explaining how we're unaware of how unaware we are," said McRaney. "I like to say that we are the unreliable narrator in the story of our lives and so, what I do is I do this romp across all the latest psychological research and some of the great psychological studies over the last 20 or 30 years and I explain to you how incredibly self-deluded you are and the things that you can do to notice that," he said.

McRaney has been internet director at WDAM for 4 years. His book is based on his popular blog of the same title which he started about 3 years ago.
