Bill Ray, Percy Watson receive annual Hub Award

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A prestigious, annual public service award was presented to a prominent Hattiesburg businessman and a longtime state legislator from the Hub City Thursday night. The Hub Award was given to William K. Ray and Rep. Percy Watson at the Hattiesburg Country Club.

Each year, it's awarded to recognize citizens for outstanding service to the community.

Ray is a former CEO of Wesley Health Systems, Inc. and currently serves as the head of the Asbury Foundation. Watson is chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee and he's been practicing law in Hattiesburg since 1976.

"I'm a little shocked at receiving the award," said Ray. "There are so many great people in Hattiesburg that are deserving and it humbles you to be picked out and chosen to receive it," he said.

"It's a very high honor that has been given me," said Rep. Watson. "I'm just humbled with having received this award," he said.

The Hub Award was first presented in 1979.
