HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - This weekend, Hattiesburg-area residents who have old motor oil, used tires or out-of-date appliances are being asked to help local officials in Forrest and Lamar counties protect our environment. Saturday morning, you're invited to the "Right Way to Throw Away Day" in Hattiesburg and Purvis.
Environmental disposal companies will be available at the Bobby Chain Airport in Hattiesburg and the Lamar County Multi-Purpose Facility in Purvis to accept your household hazardous waste and properly get rid of it.
It's all being done free-of-charge.
"It's important that we do this, because if we have people dumping things in the wrong places, it can end up contaminating our environment and we want to make sure that we reduce that," said John Brown, assistant to Hattiesburg mayor Johnny Dupree.
Hours for the "Right Way to Throw Away Day" are from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
