Crimes of the Heart to debut Thursday in Petal

PETAL, MS (WDAM) - Crimes of the Heart, a play by native Mississippian and Pulitzer Prize winner Beth Henley, will debut Thursday at the Petal Cultural Arts Center on George Street.

The play is being but on by the Just Over the Rainbow Theater and is directed by Michael Marks. One of the cast members is Leah Thaggard, who plays Lenny Mcgrath. She  is also a cousin of the playwright Beth Henley. Also appearing in the play are Beth Alexander, Logan Johnson, Chris Wooten, Brittany Smith, and Audra Cummings.

"Crimes of the Heart really deals with the dysfunctional Mcgrath family, three sisters who live in Hazelhurst Mississippi meet at the family home to deal with all kinds of problems, said Michael Marks. "It's a dark comedy, it's comical because it will keep you on the edge of your chair laughing through out the whole production, but it deals with some very tough themes."

Show dates are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of this and next week at 7:00 p.m. There's also a Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. For Information call 601-583-7778.
