Louisiana fugitive escapes, leads to manhunt in Mississippi woods

PIKE COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Authorities in Pike County are searching for a man wanted for rape, kidnapping, and four counts of attempted murder of a police officer.

According to WWL-TV, Kaunda Magee stole a car in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, ran from police 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities chased him into a wooded area after he drove into a ditch and exchanged fire with deputies.

According to WWL-TV, Kaunda shot and injured a police dog and then escaped after leading police on a chase and breaking into several homes.
