One man injured in two-vehicle accident, one taken into custody

The following is a press release by Linda Cranford, Jones County Fire Council PIO

A 45-year old man was injured late Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 15 North at the intersection of Highway 537.

A 51-year old male driving a Toyota Corolla was taken into custody at the scene by the Mississippi Highway Patrol after he crossed Highway 15 North from Highway 537 in front of a southbound Ford F250 driven by the 45-year old male.  The two collided at the intersection sending the Ford F250, which was pulling an empty flatbed trailer, flying into a utility pole and flipping upside down.

Medical first responders and rescue units from Shady Grove and Sharon arrived on scene and performed an extrication process using the Jaws of Life to free the entrapped man.  The unidentified 45-year old man was then transported to SCRMC by EmServ with undisclosed injuries.

Also responding to the scene were units from Jones County Sheriff's Department, Jasper County Sheriff's Department and Jones County Fire Coordinator Dan McKenna.
