Master Chef Whitney Miller visits JCJC

ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - A nationally-known young chef and author from South Mississippi visited Jones County Junior College Thursday, to share her cooking tips with students and sample some of her own recipes prepared by those students.

Poplarville's Whitney Miller, who won last year's "Master Chef" TV competition, was the guest of honor at the latest Lunch and Learn event on the campus.

Miller spoke to students and other members of the community and then shared a meal prepared by the students, featuring recipes from her new book, Modern Hospitality: Simple Recipes with Southern Charm.

"It means so much to see other people who are very passionate about cooking, such as me, and see people who want to aspire to have culinary as their career," said Miller.

"It's good to have a chance to talk to her and be able to see what she went through and it's really a great experience to cook something that a world-renowned chef has created," said Malcolm McNeil, a culinary arts student from Petal.

Before the luncheon, Miller took time to autograph copies of her book.
