Hattiesburg holds its annual Unity in the Community summit

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - In order to better prevent kids from dropping out of school, Hattiesburg city leaders invited some local community leaders to encourage them about the future.

On Thursday, the city's held its 5th annual Unity in the Community Youth Drop Out Prevention Summit.

About 200 students from around the Pine Belt were in attendance.

The students were able to listen to some business leaders success stories and met with military recruits about a bright future.

    Southern Miss football's annual black and gold spring game turned out to be a defensive battle as the Gold squad prevailed 14-7.
