Southern Miss kicks off Homecoming week

HATTIESBURG,MS (WDAM) -  It's that time of year again. It's homecoming week at The University of Southern Mississippi.

Starting Monday there are plenty of events and activities planned for 2011 homecoming. Alumni, students and those just wanting to participate can enjoy "King Lear" productions October 18 - 23.

Students will have plenty to do with on-campus activities planned by the Student Government Association.

All that will lead to the homecoming parade, and the Eagles hosting the Southern Methodist University Mustangs on Saturday.

"Well, the homecoming parade is a tradition for Southern Miss," said Jennifer Payne. "It is something that has been happening for a very long time, and it is one of those opportunities for our alumnus, friends and families to come back and be a part and be involved in the tradition. So, that is what makes it really special. The homecoming parade will be this Saturday at 10 a.m. Beginning at the Hattiesburg Public Library. We will run a loop through downtown," said Jennifer Payne, Associate Director for External Affairs for Southern Miss Alumni Association.
