Family fun in October at Mitchell Farms Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze

COLLINS. MS (WDAM) - For the past six years Don and Jo Lynn Mitchell have opened their farm to the public during the month of October to enjoy their Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze fall event.

The farm is located on Leaf River Church Road off Highway 84 West about 3 1/2 miles east of Collins. The farm is open every day through October. During the week is by reservation only and on the weekend they are open Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to everyone. Cost for admission on the weekend is $8.00 per person. Pumpkins and other fall decor are available for purchase.

"We have school groups bring their children out here to learn. We teach then about all the different drops we grow like corn, wheat, and soybeans and peanuts and then families come out on the weekends and they just enjoy themselves," said Jo Lynn Mitchell, Mitchell Farms spokesperson. "They pay $8.00 to get in and they get to spend the day with us. We take the people on a farm tour on our trailer ride. They get a pumpkin to take home. We have animals for them to see while they are here. We have rope swings, tire swings, a corn pool, a sand mountain they get to play on, big slides. Just different farm type toys that they don't play with at regular playgrounds."
